“Ophelia” (2001) was recently purchased by collectors in Seattle. It is the third painting in this series to end up in the Pacific Northwest, the other two living in Oregon and Toronto. It seems fitting given that the Ophelia paintings were created during a decade where I spent summers reveling in the landscape of the Alaskan wilderness. This is the only painting that I have had the pleasure of painting on silk linen, allowing for an unusually delicate surface and translucency.

Ophelia, much like Mary Magdalene, has been a recurring figure in my work and the source of tremendous inspiration for me as an artist.

I’m certain that my journey with her is not over yet!
