Dark Angel, oil on canvas, 36″ x 44″, Los Angeles, 2015

This particular angel has been a recurring figure in my work.  She was inspired by an artist-model I worked with years ago in San Francisco, and her nurturing and warm essence has become very dear to me.  I decided to document her evolution in my newest painting (in reverse, from completion to blank canvas).

“Angels, (they say) are often unable to tell whether they move among the living or dead. The eternal torrent whirls all the ages through either realm forever, and sounds above their voices in both.”
