In April of 2014, the mural “We Grow Together” was unveiled at Juan Cabrillo Elementary school in Hawthorne, California. I directed this community-wide art project, giving first and second grade students and their parents an opportunity to collaborate and create art together. The mural is a collective accomplishment of the community and is an extraordinary example of how art helps transform the quality of public schools in our community.
The mural project was featured twice in the City of Hawthorne’s local news segment.
